At 86, Rostraver Musician John Huchrowski Keeps Rolling Along

John Huchrowski is one of those people who can entertain you in a number of ways.

If you want a good story, or you want to hear some fascinating facts about music or show business, he is the one most likely to make that the story you will remember. He can entertain you with any number of jokes. He can give you insider information on what it was like to play in some of the famous polka bands.

And...oh, yes...he can play a pretty mean fiddle.

At 87, Rostraver man still entertains fans of polka music

He's been playing violin for more than seven decades, but John Huchrowski believes his staying power isn't because he's the best. “I'm not a musician. I'm a stylist,” said the 87-year-old Rostraver man, who also has a passion for ham radio, pigeon racing and bottle collecting.

The spry and personable entertainer — he still jumps around on stage, sings, tells jokes and does magic tricks...

Polka musician 'Mr. December' bringing his fiddle to McKeesport lodge

If you've gone to a local polka or international music show in recent years, there's a good chance you've seen John Huchrowski playing violin.

Huchrowski took up the violin — or as he calls it, fiddle — in 1934, and through the years has played with the likes of Frankie Yankovic, Lil' Wally, Sam Pugliano and Joe Mlakar, to name a few.
